I had the opportunity to create a baby shower invitation for my dear friend. I took it and ran, as I love a creative challenge where I can be free and let the process flow without an exchange of contracts and money. I use these opportunities to practice and evolve my design process and try to push myself to build off previous work ideas and skills, but also to make myself uncomfortable, take risks and try to expand my library and aesthetic.
With this project, I really wanted to make the invitation and party decoration suite personal with my friend at the center. And so an outdoor pregnancy photography session was in order! Who doesn’t love an excuse to go into nature and take photos of a friend on a peaceful Sunday morning?
This winter in beautiful Northeast Ohio has been long and cold, but we got really lucky on the perfect Sunday morning, at the perfect point in her pregnancy, to go out without coats, just after a foot of snow melted. It was a dreamy, misty, spring-feeling, morning in early February. Perfect lighting with a natural softbox of milky cloud covering. These are the kind of days I long for. Nature teaches, heals, and comforts.
And here are little table toppers I designed because I had so many cute photos left from the photoshoot – I wanted to the guests to see how beautifully pregnant my friend was and they were a good baby shower keepsake for her family.
And check out some of the star and moon baby shower signage for the drinks, games, and food!
And I don’t want to forget the Huge 6 foot x 2 foot baby shower banner featuring stars and moons and my friends baby bump!
